Punk the Capital: Building a Sound Movement
2019, 1h 30 min
Directed by James June Schneider, Paul Bishow
When punk rock exploded in Washington, DC, it was a phenomenon of powerful music, deep friendships, and clear minds coming together in a powerful way. The location is unlikely, the timing is perfect. Punk the Capital tells the inspiring story of how this unique subculture took root against all odds.
“Punk the Capital is a must see! Who would have thought that Washington, a deadly boring city in the mid-1970s where the streets emptied out at 6pm, would become synonymous with the most important American punk rock in a decade. ” – Libération (France)
The evening will begin with a brief slide show from Jeff Nelson, to be shown only in Budapest! It contains pictures from his family’s 2 years in Budapest (1965-66) and his old band Minor Threat (1982).
Jeff Nelson (Minor Threat) and James June Schneider will be present to discuss the film.
The planedd concert of the band Fleshprison after the film is unfortunately canceled.
