◖Romano Drom
Romano Drom celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2019, with their anniversary album released worldwide on Riverboat Records (World Music Network). Romano Drom is one of the best-known gypsy bands in Central and Eastern Europe and has been a permanent fixture on the world music scene since its foundation in 1998. Their concerts always get the audience in the mood and dancing.
They have toured the world (playing over 500 concerts in 30 countries), and 20 years of experience have shaped their songs into scratchy, frill-free songs.
The authentic message of urban folklore, hidden in everyday life, and contemporary gypsy music reflection, easily conquers even mainstream audiences. In the backbone of the repertoire, the 7 albums the band has released so far, founder and composer Antal Kovács’ goal of an inner renewal of the living Oláh musical tradition unfolds. The material is transformed into world music by fusing musical solutions from cultures of sometimes different origins that most accurately cover the composer’s goal. Their songs are shivery and emotional, yet inviting to dance, and rhyme with the interplay of traditional string and percussion rhythm instruments, processed ancient songs and new compositions, all highlighted by drums and bass guitar
