For four years, we’ve been rustling the leaves, riding the waves, and enthusiastically turning the blades of the culture-plasma-generator here in the heart of district eight. And the blades are not stopping: by the end of december, we’ll fill the house with more than 200 events, including countless concerts—from old-school and new-wave rap to psychedelic Balkan funk and well-known indie bands—as well as exhibitions, music-focused talks, and all-night parties every weekend where everyone feels good in a safe, accepting environment.

But first, we have to do what we do every year at this time: open the magical gate to the club season.

On friday, september 12th, it’s happening again: in the Main Hall, the mics will be heating up from the afternoon, thanks to the performers of Budapest Open Mic All Stars rap music talent show (Szunyog Tess, Lekvárherceg, Sallai & Sikkboy Kiddie, Jeti, Bullet), and in the evening, exciting Holdturbina DJs will take over, from Meduzah to Technokool to Sonic Rain. In the Club Room, the evening starts with a jam session from the Szett series, then Elza, Enbébi, Switch Nollie, and Vedat Akdag will get the dancefloor moving until morning.

The community spirit of Turbina is strengthened by the „Paint Our Backstage!” event, where anyone can leave their mark on the walls of the musicians’ backstage dressing rooms with the help of painter Panni Sibitka.

In the Bistro, a nail art workshop, Turbina Talk, and a quiz will take turns, followed by Chris Villon and txybandi creating the nighttime mood. Meanwhile, in the Exhibition Space, you can view the Bogotá X Budapest Bridge – Ghosts exhibition, which connects the visual arts of the Colombian and Hungarian capitals, complemented by a linocut workshop with Zsófi Ferenczi.

Turbina’s season opener is a concert, club night, exhibition, workshop anda celebration that brings people closer together all at once—everyone can find their own entry into the new season, so come on out.
