VI. Kurzgesagt Talk – The Fermi Paradox – Where Are All The Aliens?

02.04.2025 Wednesday19:00Main Hall

„Where is everybody?” – Enrico Fermi once asked over lunch.

The Universe is infinite—so we can’t possibly be alone. Is there life beyond Earth? If so, why haven’t we seen it? And do they see us?

Kurzgesagt aims to explore and understand the vast cosmos—or, if understanding is beyond our reach, at least to ask the right questions. Following this spirit, astronomers will gather at Turbina to discuss one of the most fascinating mysteries that has captured human imagination for centuries: extraterrestrial life and our chances of discovering it.

Guest Speakers:

🔹 Dr. Bernadett Pál – Research astronomer at the HUN-REN Research Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences. She specializes in modeling liquid water on Mars and is a passionate birdwatcher in her free time.

🔹 Dr. László Kiss – Academic, Széchenyi Prize-winning physicist, full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, research professor, and director general of the Research Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences.

🔹 Ádám Boldog – Researcher at the HUN-REN Research Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences. His work focuses on exoplanets orbiting other stars and the study of their potential habitability.

🎤 Moderator: Levi Passed

This 6th Kurzgesagt Talk is inspired by the video “The Fermi Paradox – Where Are All The Aliens?”.
