Mayberian Sansküllötts, Lady / Bird
The music of Mayberian Sanskülotts combines the bittersweet romanticism of the domestic and international new wave bands of the eighties, the glacial grandiosity of shoegaze and the dreamlike echo curtain of contemporary dream pop, while retaining a distinctive, instantly recognisable mood. Zita Csordás’s ethereal voice is shaped by the icy cold world of coldwave and Hungarian folk music at the same time; the band’s songs are a duality of purest personalism and sublime spirituality. The band recently celebrated their 10th anniversary, and to mark the occasion they have put together a new English-language album. Inspired by Vietnamese Balm, released in Spring 2022, they will be performing God Tiger songs this Thursday night.
Ági Csóka’s solo project, which has been maturing for almost three years, has grown into an orchestra by 2022: the album LADY / BIRD, released last autumn, was no longer made alone in a room, but as a joint project in a room, as now the members of the concert line-up, Ildikó Hepp, Éva Muck and Barna Ruprech, also contributed to the orchestration and recording, and the mix was not made entirely at home, but with the help of Elza Anna Garay.
